I wonder what Mary was doing when she felt her first contraction.

I wonder if the thought of giving birth scared her.

I wonder what advice her friends and family gave her.

I wonder if Joseph was nervous.

I wonder if a midwife attended the birth.

I wonder who cut the cord, and what they did with the placenta.

I wonder if there was just something special about that labor.

I wonder if God chose to enter the world through a woman’s womb, not because it was the most humble way but because it was the most holy way.

“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)
