Fear of the unknown. Lack of control. Uncertainty.

Your birth has the potential to be filled with fearful thoughts! But did you know that physiologically, fear causes your body to tense up and sphincters to close? Think about what your body does when you have a fearful reaction…

  • Jaw clenches

  • Muscles tighten

  • Shoulders pull in

  • Holding your breath

These movements are the opposite of what we want to see in effective laboring! So what can a nervous mama do?

  • Be COMFORTABLE with your care provider and birth environment

  • TRUST that your body knows how to give birth

  • Be INFORMED about the biological process of birth

  • Say NO to the spirit of fear!

1 John 4:18 - There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

2 Timothy 1:7 - …for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

If your worries are rooted in fear of the unknown, the most powerful solution is the learn about what will happen next. Makes sense, right?
