Based on Peace

What drives your decisions?

Make your decisions based on peace, not fear.
On what you want, not on what you don’t want.

There is a lot of information out there! These days, it’s possible to be more educated and researched about pregnancy and birth than ever before. This is a good thing!

But sometimes before we realize it, research can turn from well-meaning data into fear-filled pressure. Does that mean you should ignore any concerns you have? Certainly not. But you can choose to navigate your decisions by following peace rather than fear! You can arrive at the same conclusion but with a different motivation.

For instance:

Do you want a natural birth because you’re afraid of an epidural turning into a c-section via the cascade of interventions?
Or do you want a natural birth because you know that is how your body gives birth best, releasing oxytocin and adrenaline to help you manage pain and enjoy a beautifully designed birth “high”?

Do you want to give birth with an OBGYN in a hospital because you’re afraid of something going wrong and needing to utilize a NICU?
Or do you want to give birth in a hospital because that is what sounds like the most safe and comfortable after learning about several risk factors you may have?

For Christians, knowing what feels peaceful is easy. We can quiet the clamoring voices around us and listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit whispering to our hearts. He leads us to peace every time!

"For God is not a God of confusion but of peace." 1 Corinthians 14:33

What have you been feeling confused and fearful about lately? How can you shift your mindset and view these things through a lens of peace?
