The Thing About Fear

What's the significance?

What is it about fear? Why is it always just waiting for us to give an inch, ready to creep in and fill our hearts with dread? And why is it so easy for us to feel especially anxious when we imagine giving birth?

Satan hates what God has created. He is bent on destroying all things that are pure and good and holy. Childbirth is one of those things.

When God created man and woman, he made them both with his own two hands. He formed them in his own likeness, his own image. He breathed his own breath into them. (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7, 2:21-22) Woman, you have been specifically, purposefully, carefully designed.

Women alone have the elements needed to grow and sustain the beginning of human life. Our capabilities are reproducible by neither man nor machine. Childbirth is not a woman's only calling, but it is only a woman's calling.

And Satan hates it. He'll do everything in his power to stop us from stepping into that calling. Whispering lies to us is his number one tactic.

What lies have you believed about birth? That you won't be able to handle it? That childbirth is dangerous? That your body won't work?

Now is the time to weed through the lies in our hearts, uproot them, and replace them with truth. And the truth is: You have what it takes to handle it. Childbirth is a miracle of life. You are uniquely made for this process.

"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you." (Isaiah 26:3)

Move forward and trust God's design in you. Practice self-control over your thoughts. Step into your calling with confidence and peace!
